Severe Allergy (Peanuts, tree nuts) 2014/15

MEDICAL ALERT TO PARENTS

Date: August 30, 2014

Dear Parent/Guardian,

This letter is to inform you that a student in your child’s classroom has a SEVERE food allergy to tree nuts and peanuts that could be life threatening.

It is our goal to ensure that every student in our school is safe. Because this student cannot be in contact with foods containing this/these allergen(s), we are asking that you avoid, if possible, sending these foods to school for snacks or treats.  Treats or snacks for the whole classroom should be store purchased with clear labeling.  Please do not send homemade treats.

Even trace elements of these products could result in a severe allergic reaction. Sometimes these elements may be hidden in processed foods.

Please discuss the following school policies with your child:
v Do not offer, share or exchange any foods with other students at school.
v Hand washing with soap and water after eating is necessary to decrease the chance of cross contamination on surfaces at school.
v If your child rides the bus, remind them that there is a “No Eating on the Bus” policy.

Thank you for your consideration and support in this matter. If you have any questions or concerns please call.

Sincerely,

Carl Deuker

Blog Purpose

I will use this blog to log daily progress in class and to keep an archive of assignments, particularly math assignments and long-range projects. It is an informal, unofficial, personal  blog that you are welcome to visit--actual assignments are posted (and modified) during class time.

My official class website can be found by accessing the school's web page.
