Social Studies Powerpoint Rubric (Grading)

Power Point Introduction
Social Studies

Six slides

Interesting pictures/graphics
Phrases, not sentences, on the slides themselves
Don’t put all your information on the slide.  Instead, put the heading only.  For example, on your slide you might have a photo of Plato with his name, the word: Philosopher, and a date.  Then, using notes, you would explain more about him. The slides are to capture the attention of the viewer; your presentation is to provide information.  You are the star of the presentation, not the slides. If you were to add up the words on all six slides, the grand total should be around 75 words.

Notes

You need to practice at home the art of speaking from notes as opposed to the (boring) technique of reading notes.  Speaking from notes will captivate your audience; reading from notes will put them to sleep.  Eye contact is everything!
